Eleanor Frances Seiler

Eleanor Frances Seiler earned her B.A degree in 1913 and M.A. in 1914 from the University of Denver. Two years after that, Seiler received her M.A. in physics from the University of Illinois with her thesis on the study of the electrodynamometer.  In June 1922, she received her PhD in physics with a thesis on photoelectric cells. She is the first woman to earn a physics PhD from the University of Illinois.
