Tonja Buford Bailey

Tonja Buford Bailey graduated from the University of Illinois in 1993. In 1992, she won the NCAA championshipin the 400 meterhurdles. Tonja competed in three Olympics (1992, 1996, 2000) and was the first female Illini to make the US Olympic team and win a medal. From 2008 to 2013, she was head coach of thewomen’s track and field team at the University of Illinois and led the team to a Big Ten championship in 2013.
